The National Disability Data Asset Council (the Council) had an extra meeting on 30 July 2024 to discuss disability indicators.
A disability indicator is a way to measure disability within the National Disability Data Asset.
The Council talked about how disability will be captured in the first set of data that will be available. They considered advice from technical experts and the Disability Indicator Panel.
The Council talked about how the first set of disability measures will capture people with disability that receive disability-related government payments or services.
The Council agreed to the first way of capturing disability in the first set of data. The Council also agreed that the National Disability Data Asset will need to capture more people with disability and improve over time. They also discussed the information that will be available on the website in accessible formats about the disability indicators.
The next Council meeting will be held in August 2024 and will include a discussion about plans for community engagement.
