Accessible insights

All research projects using the National Disability Data Asset must share accessible insights. This is principle 6 of the National Disability Data Asset Charter (Charter). For more information on the Charter, please visit the guiding principles page of our website.

The National Disability Data Asset Council have discussed accessible insights. They agreed on what research projects must share. These requirements are in a factsheet. This factsheet is available on the requirement to share accessible insights page of our website.

We will publish the accessible insights on this webpage when they are available.

Disability flags

The government has worked with community and disability experts to create the first set of disability flags. These were previously known as disability indicators and the factsheet and explanatory notes still refer to them as indicators.

Disability flags are community supported ways of measuring disability in the National Disability Data Asset.

The flags will be improved and added to as more data are added to the National Disability Data Asset.

Researchers can request access to these flags to create insights of benefit to people with disability and the wider disability community.

The first disability flags include people that receive disability-related government payments and services.

The first set of flags do not include all people with disability in Australia.

Future flags will aim to better represent Australians with disability.
